Bodies found in Warren; police treating case as homicide3:51 PM Sat, Jul 26, 2008 | Permalink | |
LINCOLN -- State and Warren police said the bodies found in a Warren back yard this morning are likely those of the missing couple James A. Soares, 60, and his wife, Marian F. Soares, 53, and that police are treating the deaths as a homicide.
In a 2 p.m. news conference, authorities also said that a family member is in custody, but no one has been charged. The police would elaborate on few other details.
James and Marian Soares were reported missing by family members on July 15. Today, the police removed two bodies from the couple's back yard at 14 Baltimore Ave., Warren. The bodies had been buried in the cesspool, the police said at today's news conference.
The police, who had previously search the property with a search dog, had returned this morning with a backhoe to excavate the back yard. Two bodies in body bags and bags of dirt were removed by the police, who had closed off the street and taped off the Soares' home at 14 Baltimore Ave. and a house next door.
