Talking about our immigration

If reader comments to the 7-to-7 Breaking News Blog are any indication, Rhode Islanders are, to put it mildly, concerned about immigration.

Today at Roger Williams University School of Law, four speakers are taking up the topic at a mid-day forum, “The Challenges of Immigration Reform in Rhode Island.”

Scheduled speakers are Sen. Juan Pichardo, D-Providence; Col. Ramon Martinez, president and CEO of Progreso Latino; Immigration attorneys Alison Foley and Roberto Gonzalez; and Ivette Luna, community organizer at Ocean State Action.

The forum, scheduled for 12:30 p.m. today, will be held at the RWU Law School, Room 30, is sponsored by the American Constitution Society, the ACLU, and a host of attorney and law student organizations.

That's a SERIOUSLY one-sided 'talk' they plan to have. All they're missing is LaRaza.

I thought a forum required multiple points of view. This looks one sided

A forum usually requires people with college degrees and some level of complex thinking. The organizers probably couldn't find any anti-immigrant speakers who fit the bill!!!

Actually Bob, the immigrants are the ones without degrees. But I bet you want the government to pay for them.

For the record, no one is "anti-immigrant." There are, however, some of us left who actually believe in obeying the law- something that all of these liberal organizations seek to circumvent on behalf of the Democratic party.

Lou Dobbs is speaking on our campus tomorrow night. I think you will all agree that he adequately represents the "other side's perspective" on this matter. In fact, our forum was to balance his lecture.

Hey, EMT, you take that back. My law-obeyin'-circumventin' is strictly non-partisan!
