National Grid expected to ask for rate increase today
WARWICK -- National Grid will ask for a rate increase.
The utility is expected to make its case for a 5.2 percent increase for electricity rates at a hearing today before the Public Utilities Commission.
National Grid has said the rising cost of crude oil makes the rate hike necessary.
The George Wiley Center, a Pawtucket-based advocacy group for the poor, says too many customers are losing heat and electricity service because they're unable to pay the bills.
The organization is urging the public to attend the hearing.

Even if we go to these meetings, Are We Heard or is it just easier to say the people were listened too. Even with people not being able to pay their bills no help is coming their way. How come it is so easy to just say the crude oil rate is going up. So what does that mean to an 80 year old widow sitting with layers of clothes on and no heat because she had to buy her meds and some food off the mark down counter at the grocery store just to survive. She can't say to the bill collectors or pharmacy..."Oh sorry I am a little short this week can you help me out , National Grid needs more money.....
