Firefighters will participate in Sunday's drill

The Providence firefighters will be participating in Sunday's Homeland Security drill.

They will also stage a "teach-in" on the steps of City Hall after the drill is finished, according to a statement from the firefighters' union.

The firefighters had planned to protest the drill, potentially leading to its cancellation.

That plan was met with fierce objections by city officials.

Paul Doughty, the president of the firefighters' union, is scheduled to give a press conference today at 3 p.m. at the North Main Street fire station, 151 N. Main St.
