WARWICK, R.I. -- A family from the Norwood neighborhood was displaced Monday night after a fire started on the front porch, according to Capt. David Morse of the Warwick Fire Department. The fire appeared to have started underneath the porch of the single-family, two-and-a-half-story home, at 55 Broad St., according to Morse. So far it appears that the fire may be electrical in nature, Morse said, although it is still being investigated. The incident occurred around 7:18 p.m. Morse said that there were people in the house who were able to get out safely, but he did not know how many. The owner of the home, Corey Tabor, was not at home at the time, Morse said. Morse said the fire caused damage to vinyl siding on the right side of the house. Because of electrical issues with the house, the power was turned off, and the family had to find lodging elsewhere, Morese said. He said the family was referred to the Red Cross. |
