Reporter Linda Borg is doing a story on the flu and school districts. Have any districts developed online protocols that would allow sick students to keep up with homework and/or class lessons online? If so, e-mail Linda Borg at lborg@projo.com. My kids are at Exeter-West Greenwich and they go on NiceNet to talk to other classmates about homework when they get sick. As far as I know, no efforts are made by teachers to send group emails to their classes as a whole and homework assignments and notes about class are not available online. All the kids have email addresses through the school, too. The system is in place. They just aren't using it.

If my kids are sick enough to stay home with the flu, I don't think they should be responsible for homework. Sure, it makes sense to keep up on reading and such, if possible, but they certainly shouldn't be held to deliverable deadlines if they have the flu.
