WARWICK, R.I. -- The two victims of a home invasion Friday night have been identified as Gregory Howard and Michael Scully of 50 Vanderbilt Road, in the city's Hillsgrove section. Howard, 23, and Scully, 30, were home with Howard's mother, Susan Howard, 52, when three masked men, one carrying a small caliber handgun, forced their way into the single-family home around 8:30 p.m. The police said there was a fight and the two men were shot multiple times. Both were taken to Rhode Island Hospital to be treated for torso wounds, which were not believed to be life-threatening, according to Detective Capt. Sean T. Collins. Scully was treated and released Friday, according to a hospital spokeswoman. The hospital had no record of Gregory Howard. Susan Howard was not injured, Collins said. The three intruders are still being sought. The original version of this story was posted at 11:21 a.m. Anyone with information is asked to call Warwick detectives at (401) 468-4233 or the department's anonymous tip line, (401) 732-TIPS ( 732-8477). Home invasions should be a capital offense like back in the old days when a horse thief was hung for taking a person's most sacred possession. What could be more sacred than a person's home? This seems to be happening more and more lately. What is the punishment for this (or is there any)?
