Torey Lovullo, a former major-league player and minor-league manager, has been named new manager of the Pawtucket Red Sox, the team announced today. Lovullo, 44, last season was the manager of the Columbus Clippers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. For three years before that he managed the Buffalo Bisons, which was Cleveland's Triple-A club before the move to Columbus. Lovullo replaces Ron Johnson, who has been promoted to the Boston Red Sox coaching staff under Terry Francona. The PawSox also announced that Gerald Perry, another former big-leaguer, has been named hitting coach. More to come on the SoxBlog. |
