Kiplinger's Personal Finance on Wednesday announced that Brown University and Providence College have made its list of the 100 best values in private institutions. Brown placed 12th, while PC was listed as 35th. Both institutions were judged in the university class, of which there were 50 competitors. The California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, Calif., was number one in this category. The annual private-school rankings appear in Kiplinger's December 2009 issue--on newsstands November 10--and online now at www.kiplinger.com/reports/best-college-values/. "This year's top 100 private schools met the challenges of a slumping economy with brio," Kiplinger's editor Janet Bodnar said in a news release. "With so many private institutions offering generous financial aid packages, families are finding that private college is still affordable. In fact, the average tuition price can be as little as half or less of the sticker price--making them very competitive with public universities." |
