PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- No serious injuries have been reported after a three-car crash that closed two left lanes of Route 95 south, near the Thurbers Avenue curve, on Tuesday morning.

The accident, which tied up traffic during rush hour, happened shortly after 7 a.m. and was cleared within the hour, according to the Rhode Island State Police and the state Department of Transportation's traffic management center.

For other traffic needs, check out the state roadways, via the Department of Transportation's online traffic offerings.

You can find any traffic alerts describing accidents here and browse traffic cams to see real-time photos of the highways.

Also, check out congestion mapping -- i.e., how heavy the traffic is - here and listen to or read the radio reports for the week about traffic and construction on specific roadways.

In addition, you can check out the DOT's presence on the social networking site, Twitter, where the department sends all of its traffic alerts. The department also posts occasional "tweets" and blog updates there if there's a big winter storm or other incident that would affect the state roadways.

I have no doubt! There is no reason to have a 3 car crash on the highway at 7am!! This is like the 3rd time within the month. People believe that if you don't go 30 mph over the speed limit through pawt/prov you are going too slow. Let them have the 400$ speeding ticket. When will the idiots learn

Am I missing something here? It's now illegal to text while driving, and presumably drivers shouldn't be reading text messages either -- so why is DOT sending out traffic alerts that way?
