Two arrested for paintball shooting of bus in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Small children have been the target of paintball assailants. Now it's RIPTA buses.

Last week, after arresting five people for drive-by paintball attacks on several young children and a father, the police warned that anyone shooting paintballs at other people will face felony charges.

Late Saturday afternoon, a day after the warning, a carload of young men allegedly opened paintball fire on a RIPTA bus downtown, splattering it with yellow paint and breaking one of the windows.

After Officer Jonathon A. Primiano stopped the car, the two men with the guns loaded with yellow paintballs quickly pointed out that they weren't trying to hit anybody, according to the police report.

Jean Sajous, 18, of 84 Salina St., and Exnis Sosa, 19, of 201 Admiral St., were arrested anyway, charged with firing in a compact area and vandalism. The driver, Melinda Sajous, 20, was issued traffic summonses.

The local police have seen an upswing in paintball assaults throughout the city this month, an occurrence they brace for around every Halloween.

If these are the same morons that shot at the father and children, they should be lined up and shot with the paintballs themselves. No gear-no nothing. Just standing there in their skivvies. Let's see how they like and if they do it again.

Shooting the idiots with paintballs won't work. Idiots shoot each other with paintballs for fun. There's a world of difference between expecting to be hit with a paintball and thinking you've been shot. It's not about a bruise or stained clothes. It's about the terror someone must feel when they're first hit.
Time will tell if the authorities will back up their tough talk about cracking down on these punks.

Why is it we have zero tolerence in our schools, but we don't have zero tolerence for thses kinds of incidents.I think they should do community service for at least six months. They should also be charged a hefty fine. Someone could have been seriously hurt.

Somebody ought to line them up and do the same thing to them. They need to do time, community service and let the parents of the kids have a go at them. Cowards are what they are. What is it going to be next the real thing guns with bullets?

Slap them with 50K worth of fines, a couple thousand hours worth of community service, and a few months in jail.

These are the kind of morons that put a horrible name on our sport, they hinder the tournament paintball industry and we as a community of paintballers work hard enough keep our sport alive, dont blame REAL paintballers for these morons, I strongly believe that if walmart and general sporting goods stores stopped selling the paint at their locations there would be a dramatic decrease in these kinds of crimes. Field owners often refuse to sell paint to people who do not plan to participate in paintball on the field, therefore these kids wont have any paint to shoot after a while, and dont get me wrong walmart and other sporting goods stores have done ALOT for our sport but their also providing morons with non-lethal ammunition. /end rant

On Wednesday October 21, 2009, my friends and I were walking home from school. When we reached Columbia Ave, a black Nissan Altima 2004 model shot frozen paintballs at us. I got hit 2 inches from my eye, my other friend in the neck, and my other friend in the arm. We now have big cuts and bruises on those areas. I cannot believe people would think this is a funny Halloween prank. Me and my friends are tramatized; we do not even know who those people were and why they shot at us. We are now scared to go trick or treating. We can not even walk anywhere because we are in fear this may happen again. I think paintball guns are the other option for guns, because paintball guns, when hit with or without equpitment, can cause serious damage. If you saw our bruises and cuts, you could not even begin to understand why this happened to us. I dont understand why this happens to anybody . . . i hope those people who sot at us get arested and i big punishment becuase the really changed our lives.
