The Columbus Day holiday caps off Rhode Island's last big event-filled weekend before autumn's chill sends us scurrying indoors.

Here are some of today's highlights:

Columbus in Providence: Federal Hill concludes its celebration of Christopher's big day with the final day of a festival that features two stages of entertainment and, of course, lots of food. Noon to 7 p.m.

Pumpkins: The Jack-o'-Lantern Spectacular returns to the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence after a four-year hiatus, with more than 10,000 glowing pumpkins, twice as many as in previous years. Visiting hours are 6 to 11 p.m., with admission no later than 10. Admission is $12, $10 for seniors and $9 for children, 3-12.

Art: The 42nd annual Scituate Art Festival wraps up, with more than 300 artists and craftspeople exhibiting on the historic village green on Route 116 in North Scituate from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There also are booths where you can sample ethnic foods and refreshments.

Parade: Woonsocket's three-hour Autumnfest Parade steps off at 9:30 a.m. from Diamond Hill Plaza on Diamond Hill Road. Then there's the festival -- always a haven for food, entertainment and family fun -- from 10 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.

Oktoberfest: Newport's annual salute to German food, music and culture -- including, of course, beer -- concludes from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Newport Yachting Center on America's Cup Avenue.

And more! Check out other events today.
