PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A man struck on Route 95 early Sunday by a motorist who then fled with a second man lodged in his car's windshield is in serious condition at Rhode Island Hospital. Efrain Trinidad, 28, of 578 Hunt St., third floor, Central Falls, was critically injured that morning, when the police say Christopher J. Swiridowsky slammed into him and kept driving. Trinidad had been a passenger in the car driven by Jose Flores, who the police say is the man who was lodged in Swiridowsky's windshield. Hospital spokespeople Tuesday and Wednesday evenings said Trinidad was in serious condition. On Thursday morning, hospital spokeswoman Jill Reuter said he is in critical condition. Friday morning, he was again listed in serious condition. Flores remains in good condition Friday, Reuter said. The impact of the crash broke both of Trinidad's legs, his back and nose, and caused brain injuries, according to a state police report. The original version of this story was posted at 10:47 a.m. Thursday. |
