By Amanda Milkovits PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A Providence woman is being held without bail for the murder of the father of her oldest child. Shanna Rufo cried Monday morning as District Court Judge J. Terrence Houlihan Jr. read aloud the charge that accused her of stabbing to death 29-year-old George Holland during an argument Saturday afternoon at 15 Ridgeway St., where Holland lived with a girlfriend. With her is public defender Robert Marro.Providence Journal photo / Mary Murphy Holland had eight children with several different women, including Rufo, who is the mother of his 13-year-old son. He also had been charged on several occasions with domestic assault, although each of those charges was eventually dismissed, and had been the subject of no-contact orders involving several different women. Rufo herself took out a restraining order against Holland in 1996, the year she gave birth to their son, according to court records. Gina Bly, Rufo's sister, said after the arraignment that Holland used to "My sister would help with all of his kids," Bly said tearfully. Rufo's cousin, Angel Leary, said that she and Rufo were spending time together on Friday and Saturday morning -- Rufo was getting tattoos of her four children's names -- when Holland's current girlfriend called Rufo and asked for help. The woman told Rufo that Holland hadn't come home all night, but three of his children with another woman were left behind at the house. Leary said she told Rufo not to get involved, but Rufo went over to the house on Ridgeway Street anyway. Bly said Rufo called her later Saturday, after Holland's death, and told her what happened. Bly said Rufo told her that Holland returned while she and his current girlfriend were on his computer, and he became enraged. Holland attacked his girlfriend, and when Rufo got in the middle, he kicked and beat her, Bly said. "My sister stood up in between them, and he threw my sister into the computer and kicked her in the back," Bly said. "She has scoliosis and a bad knee. He's 6 foot 2 and 275 pounds. George is not a little man." The prosecutor said in court that Rufo grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Holland twice. Bly said her sister told her that she doesn't remember what happened. Sad...but this is what you get with this crowd...and as to all of the poor kids, all with the different fathers, most of whom the kids probably have no idea of whom he is....this has got to stop!
Don't these women have a clue about how to have sex and/or other ways to please these selfish men, they align themselves with, with getting pregnant?
Or is this being done intentionally (having large numbers of kids) in order to get more $$$$ for each child added to their welfare checks?

men kill women all the time, and they are treated with kid gloves. a woman defends herself from an abusive ex, and the judge acts like she's a cold-blooded killer. women kill men largely out of self-defense. men kill women for any reason at hand. that is why gender, as in female gender, is one of the categories included in hate crimes legislation.

So what your saying is that it was right for them to have an agruement & then for her to come to HIS house & kill him with his kids around is right????
You people are sick if you even think that it is even right for her to be there....not to mention NO1 deserves to take n-e 1's life when did they become GOD...never it is not right & I dont care how many kids he has with different women no1 should take n-e 1's life & that is that point blank

Some of the disrespectful comments are truely uncalled for and uneccessary and it shows that you have no up bringing. A life was lost here!!! Regardless of how many babies he had or what he may or may NOT have done back in '96 is irrelevant to him being MURDERED BY HIS BABY's MOMMA!!!! Unreal :(

yes i agree with NSL the whole thing is just sad..i know shanna and her children and all the back and forth about the persons invovled is not important. The children should be the focus here and that's it.. i feel for all of them...shanna's children are without a mother behind something they had no control over and Mr.Holland's children are without a father.. i pary for them all even Shanna.... it's still soo unreal to me..
