WOONSOCKET, R.I. -- Landmark Medical Center has revised its visitor policy to protect patients from the spread of seasonal and H1N1 flu, its president announced Thursday. Children 18 and younger and people with flu-like symptoms will not be permitted to visit, president Richard R. Charest said. "With the current uptick in seasonal flu and H1N1 cases before the peak of flu season, we feel this precaution is necessary." he said. The Lifespan network, which includes Rhode Island, Hasbro, Miriam, Newport and Bradley hospitals, has adopted similar practices, as has Women & Infants, part of the Care New England Health System. Landmark's policy will stay in effect until further notice, Charest said. Flu-like symptoms include any combination of fever and one or more of the following: headache, sore throat, extreme tiredness, runny or stuffy nose, dry cough or muscle aches. Unfortunate, but necessary. And for those do-da's who don't think so, when you get the flu, go cough and sneeze on your own little kids. Anyone who can tell me that they think that's ok do me a favor, stay away from me!
