PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- When the Senate reconvenes Thursday afternoon, its first order of business won't be the stacks of pending bills, but a report on the state's ailing economy. Economist Edinaldo Tebaldi, an assistant professor of economics at Bryant University and one of the state's forecast managers for the New England Economic Partnership will brief Senators on Rhode Island's dreary financial forecast. "He is coming to talk about Rhode Island's economic condition in relation to the rest of New England and the rest of the country," Senate spokesman Greg Pare said Thursday. "Leadership wanted to give the full Senate an understanding of Rhode Island's economic standing." The discussion will take place shortly after the 4 p.m. start of the daily floor session of the full Senate -- the first since the Senate went into recess this June. Once that event is complete, Senators will begin work on a lengthy list of outstanding bills, including the highly publicized bill to ban indoor prostitution. That proposal was approved by the House Wednesday night.

Will Projo be reporting on this presentation? I certainly hope so as well as reporting on the reaction of our Senators to this report. Will there be even one relevant recommendation from the group?
