I cannot think of a better choice. Dann-Messier is the kindest, most decent human being; and has always had her students, staff and organizations interest at heart. Congratulations Brenda!

In the bad old days when the US was educationally competitive worldwide, the federal Dept. of Education did not exist. Then Jimmy Carter needed the endorsement and sing-holders from the NEA, so he made a promise. Once elected, we got a US Dept. of Education. 5000 Dept of Ed employees later, the US now trails virtually every other developed nation in educational achievement. Congrats on the new gig, Ms. Messier. And welcome to what a former Education Secretary termed The Blob.

Brenda is a thoughtful, inspirational leader in adult education and this is a tribute to her work. Well-deserved, and she will represent us well.

@ John Stark: because the Department of Health, Education and Welfare had NOTHING to do with education. But excellent job of making a partisan point in the comments of an article about a wonderful and deserving woman getting well-deserved recognition.
Brenda is an incredible leader and has the opportunity to make a tremendous impact in the world of adult education. I wish her the best of luck.

Another addition to an already burgeoning yet useless Education Bureaucracy. I'm ashamed to be called a Foster/Glocester School Committee member. We are consistantly cheating our kids and our nation with this fraud.
