PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The public is invited to get a close look at the new South Pavilion at Women & Infants Hospital, before the patients move in. The building includes the nation's largest single-family-room neonatal intensive care unit, with 80 bassinets; a 30-bed antenatal-care unit for high-risk mothers; an education center; a family resource center; and a chapel. The "Come On IN" open house will be held Sunday, Sept. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. The free event will feature refreshments and tours, including tours in Spanish and Portuguese. Attendees are asked to bring a new unwrapped gift of baby clothing or supplies to be given to patients in need. A brunch will also be held Sunday, Sept. 13, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., but unlike the open house, the brunch is not free: tickets are $15 per person or $35 per family. The $76.8-million building, which was in planning and construction for five years, will be dedicated at a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday, Sept. 14, at 10:30 a.m. For more information or to attend, call (401) 274-1122, ext. 2020.
