By Felice J. Freyer FOSTER, R.I. -- A 49-year-old Foster man died after being struck by a car late Friday as he was walking along Hartford Pike (Route 101). The man, Steven L. Horovitz, of Hartford Pike, was taken by Foster Rescue to Rhode Island Hospital. He died of his injuries either en route or soon after arriving, according Foster Police Chief Robert E. Coyne. Coyne said Horovitz was walking "partially in the lane of travel" on a dark stretch of road about a half-mile from his home. The driver -- Roseanne V. Camacho, 64, of Providence -- was traveling easterly and struck him near 174 Hartford Pike at around 11:15 p.m. She pulled over immediately and notified authorities, Coyne said. Foster police have not filed any charges, but the accident is still under investigation. Police said that speed and alcohol were not factors. Saturday evening, the police said they were seeking Horovitz's car, a black 2007 Jeep Wrangler with Rhode Island registration SH-25. If anyone has seen this vehicle, they said in a press release, please call the Foster Police Department at (401) 397-3317. I hope someone finds his jeep. this doesn't sound right. I have worked in the same field as him and it sounds like a foul play with his jeep. My heart goes out to his family. This is so sad.
