PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- The police are asking for help from anyone with information about a shooting late Monday night in the area of Division Street that wounded a 20-year-old woman. The police say the woman walked into Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island with a gunshot wound to the back. The police were called to the hospital around 10:10 p.m., according to a statement issued by the Police Department early Tuesday morning. The woman was transferred to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to the police. Sgt. Todd Stonely of the Pawtucket Police said that the woman was in a car with other people, and that they dropped her off at the hospital and took off. Stonely said the woman was not cooperating with police. The shooting remains under investigation. Detectives ask anyone with information to call the police at (401) 727-9100. where is the Mayor, who is actually the public safety commissioner, in all of this. Perhaps crime is not happening in Lincoln, where he spends his days tending to his "interests", but crime has been on the rise for the past few years and nothing seems to be happening to combat it. Where is the Council President in all of this. We need a change in this city NOW!
