City Park, Conimicut Point, and Gorton Pond beaches in Warwick will reopen to swimming, again, just in time for the weekend. The state Department of Health announced its recommendation Friday afternoon based on test results from water samples that show bacteria levels within acceptable limits. Meanwhile, the department recommended the closure of Ford Adams State Park in Newport due to high bacteria counts. Camp Grosvenor and North Kingstown Town Beach in North Kingstown and Peabody's Beach and Third Beach in Middletown remain closed due to elevated bacteria counts. Water quality has been compromised by heavy rainfall and water runoff. The department revises beach closings on daily basis based on test results. For up-to-date information visit the department's Web site or call (401) 222-2751. |
