The man covered her mouth and nose with his hand, the woman told police, but she bit his hand and was able to get away. Police found the man, whom they later identified as Julio A. Torres, in a bedroom closet in the condo. Torres, who gave his address as 110 Foundry St., Central Falls, was charged with felony assault, kidnapping and resisting arrest. According to the Warwick police report, a shaken Kristen Fraioli, 32, of Johnston called at 5:14 a.m. Saturday to say she had been attacked in the Wethersfield Commons parking lot while delivering newspapers. Fraioli delivers the Providence Journal as an independent contractor. Wethersfield Commons is a condo development off Jefferson Boulevard. Warwick Police said Fraioli was delivering papers on Pocasset Avenue when a man came out of condo 582, which she delivers to. He called her over to him, police said, and asked if she was okay. "She said that she was in a hurry to deliver her route," the police report said. "He then hugged her and she got 'weirded out' and walked away to the condo across the street to deliver more papers. He came up behind her. When she realized he was behind her, she screamed. He asked her why she had screamed and she indicated that he had startled her." The man grabbed her and put his hand over her mouth, Fraioli told police, and she rang the doorbell repeatedly at 611 Pocasset Court to try to get help. Then the man "started dragging her away to the condo where she had originally seen him. He said over and over, 'Don't scream. I'll kill you.' "She said that she told him that she couldn't breathe, but he kept his hand on her mouth and nose. She tried to bite his hand, but it didn't help. She finally got away from him. She squeezed out of his headlock because he was sweaty." Police said Fraioli ran to her car and called police, who met her at the Holiday Inn Express on Jefferson Boulevard. Officers who went to 582 Pocasset Court said they saw a man in the garage who matched Fraioli's description. Carmen Medina, who answered the door and let police search the condo, said later that she has been married to Torres for four years and thought he was asleep beside her that morning. She is a live-in caretaker for the condo's resident, she told police, and sometimes Torres stays with her. Police found Torres in a bedroom closet. He resisted arrest, they said, until officers pepper-sprayed him. Police said Torres told them he had tried to save "the paper girl" from a man who had tried to grab her. The report said Torres fought and screamed, and in the cruiser, kicked and banged his head on the partition and kicked the rear door. Torres was convicted of robbery and conspiracy in 1998, for which he was sentenced to 20 and 10 years at the ACI, with 4 years to serve. He served part of that sentence. A prison spokeswoman said Wednesday that he was brought back to the ACI on July 4 and is at the Intake Center. CommentsLeave a commentPlease be civil. Give him a fair trial. If he's convicted give a year to file his appeals. If his appeals are denied turn him over to the victims family. Then forget about him.

Ms. Fraioli is a brave woman.
I wonder if the person Torres' wife is caretaker for is safe in her care. I hope that person is competent to decide that or has relatives who are watching out for him or her.

ANOTHER AMAZING STORY.. CAN YOU IMAGINE THIS PESON THAT COMMITTED THE CRIME ACTUALLY STAYING WITH HIS EX WIFE IN THE RESIDENCE WHILE SHE CARES FOR SOMEONE. I AM SURE YOU WILL BE READING A MORE HORENDOUS STORY ABOUT THIS INDIVIDUAL IN THE FUTURE. THE TIME AND PLACE IS NOT YET SET YET. HE BELONGS IN THE ACI AND NO PLACE ELSE. NOT IN THE WARWICK COMMUNITY. THANK GOD THE PAPER CARRIER DID NOT GET KILLED OR INJURED IN ANY WAY. SHE NEEDS TO GO TO CHURCH AND THANK GOD. SHE WAS VERY FORTUNATE TO GET AWAY FROM THIS UNDESIRABLE HUMAN BEING.

Lock this ______ up and throw away the key! Oh, thats right, he was--, serving less than 4 years of a 30 year sentence. Being this is R.I., maybe we can have a street worker counsel this misguided soul who did this because somehow the government didnt do something for him or did something against him that caused him to "allegedly" do this...but really, this girl is lucky to be alive because you know where this was going, and this predator should be locked up forever.
