MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - - A 62-year-old man from Massachusetts was killed Saturday near the intersection of Aquidneck and Prospect Avenues after he lost control of his motorcycle, hit the curb and was thrown from the bike, according to the police. The Middletown Fire Department transported Gregory Milane of North Easton, Mass., to Newport Hosptial but he died before he arrived, according to Lt. Robert S. Nutt, of the Middletown Police. Nutt said at about 3:05 p.m. Milane was riding his motorcycle around a corner on Aquidneck Avenue headed northbound when he lost control of the bike. He mounted the sidewalk along the guardrail, was ejected from the bike, struck the guardrail and landed in a grassy area, Nutt said. Nutt said speed may have been a factor in the accident. The investigation is continuing, he said. CommentsLeave a commentPlease be civil. Vicious comments, personal attacks and profanity won't be published. I'm amazed there aren't more motorcycle deaths. There are lots of riders and a lot of them go kinda fast.
Rest in peace.

I'm amazed there aren't more accidents too. There are so many idiot car and truck drivers out there using cell phones and drifting into the lane of the motorcycles, that we motorcycle riders have to use extreme caution. We riders should be allowed to shoot any driver that cuts us off! After a few of those, I bet the public pays more attention to us....

I think the use of a cell phone should be resticted while driving! As a biker I have to pullover to use my phone, why shouldn't it be the same for autos? Besides, is it really that important that it can't wait? As far as this poor accident, speed will win everytime. Bikes are meant for pleasure so why be in a hurry to get anywhere? Enjoy life you only get one!

And yet you demand respect from non-riders. Amazing.

Drivers with 4 wheels should learn to LOOK first. Some have NO respect for motorcycles! They actually ATTEMPT to cause accidents that could KILL bikers. Biker's are NOT all kids on rice rockets with little experience that drive too fast. Don't be so quick to judge. Cell phones & texting are as dangerous as drunk drivers!
I've come close too many times as a back seat rider, I had to comment on this. Drivers don't SEE bikes, they cut in front of you, drive into your lane, follow TOO close. BACK OFF!!!

Dear Diane: My sister Debbie forwarded me the article informing us of Greg's passing. Please accept our deepest sympathy's to you and your children, and their families as well.
It has been many many years since I have seen you; I think the last time was at Barbies son Dan's Bar Mitzvah. My memories of your wedding are like yesterday, you were beautiful and Greg simply a "prince charming".
I am so sorry for all of you; especially for Greg.
Love, Sarah

This was my Father and my best friend. I am sure that he would not be bickering back and forth about bikes vs. cars. Even now.
People need to be respectful no matter what they are riding, or there will be consequences of all sorts. Just like anything else...
