PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Rhode Island Department of Health has issued a lengthy advisory to all operators of summer camps on steps to take to help prevent the spread of the swine flu. The advisory, which is on its Web site, offers specific recommendations on what steps camp staff and volunteers can to take to identify and manage cases of possible influenza in camp settings including both day and overnight camps, and special considerations for persons with a high risk of complications from the H1N1 virus. Health Department Director David R. Gifford said the state continues to see new cases of the virus and this is likely to continue through the summer, "with a possibility of higher prevalence in camps." |
