CRANSTON, R.I. -- A man was hit by a car as he crossed Cranston Street Friday morning, the police said. The police said James Lucas, 59, of Providence was crossing the street toward a convenience store in the area of 837 Cranston St. during heavy traffic when he was hit by a car driving south. He was treated at Rhode Island Hospital for minor injuries. Speed does not appear to be a factor, the police said. The department's traffic division is investigating the crash. No charges have been filed.

Perhaps charges should be filed against the pedestrian? After all people all over the state jaywalk at will and I don't know any one or have ever heard of any one being cited for jaywalking in RI.
