PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A Central Falls councilwoman arrested last month on a drunken-driving charge was formally arraigned Friday morning in District Court. Eunice DeJesus DeLaHoz, 43, appeared in court to face charges of driving while intoxicated and operating on a suspended license. Judge Michael Higgins released her on $1,000 personal recognizance bail and continued her case to July 24. The proceeding lasted less than 30 seconds. DeLaHoz, who was dressed in a black pant suit and matching purse, and her lawyer. Steve Crawford, declined to say anything about the case. ``We can't make any comment at this time,'' he said. DeLaHoz was arrested on June 26 after the Lincoln police stopped her for driving erratically on Great Road with a 10-year old boy asleep in the backseat of her car. The arresting officer wrote in a police report that DeLaHoz flashed "a badge'' and told him, ``I'm on the City Council in Central Falls.'' In February 2007, DeLaHoz was elected to the council in a special election and reelected in an uncontested race in November of the same year. Records show that she had her drivers' license suspended November. CommentsLeave a commentPlease be civil. Vicious comments, personal attacks and profanity won't be published. Her criminal charges need to include child endangerment. If these are really the facts, She needs to resign her public job, or be removed from it. There is no place in government at any level for someone who drives drunk with a kid in the car. . . even when it’s Central Falls.
