SCITUATE, R.I. -- The State Police's Commercial Enforcement Unit has been recognized with the 2009 Motor Carrier Safety Administration Leadership award by the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration for having the lowest average annual commercial vehicle fatality in 2005, 2006 and 2007. Rhode Island was the only state in the "small state" category to win the award, which was presented at a ceremony in Louisville, Ky. "We are proud of the work our troopers do to help make Rhode Island's roadways safe," Col. Brendan P. Doherty said in a news release. |
