WOONSOCKET, R.I. --- Police said Tuesday that they arrested a 17-year-old after he pointed a gun at a woman early Saturday morning.

The woman told police she was walking back from a convenience store along Rathbun Street around 3:10 a.m. with friends, and they were singing when she saw the boy, whom she recognized. The boy pointed a gun at her and asked her if she had just said a word used between the gangs the Crips and the Bloods, according to Lt. Eugene Jalette, of the Woonsocket Police.

The woman later told the police, who said they found the boy passed out on a third-floor sofa at an apartment on Rathbun Street where he lives with his father. Underneath a cushion, near to him, police found a loaded .38-caliber five-shot revolver, Jalette said.

Police charged the boy with assault with dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a minor and possession of ammunition by a minor, Jalette said. He was held at the state Training School pending a probable-cause hearing, Jalette said.

Repeal Rhode Island's unfair, unjust, elitist conceal carry law. Law-abiding Citizens with no criminal past should be allowed, like in CT and MASS, to be able to obtain a concealed carry permit, period. You gun-control people who think events like these will go away by stripping us of more of our Constitutional Rights have a real awakening coming if you get your way.

Jim, get real!! This is a MINOR, who obviously was lit to the gills, waving a gun around at 3 in the morning. Get off your high horse!

constitutional right? The right to bear arms against state militia? That constitutional right? When was the last time the state had a militia. You gun toting freaks will say anything. You want a gun for defense that is fine, but lets not get carried away.

Hmmmm. So Imzadi thinks that a high teenager with a handgun isn't dangerous. I don't think that a high horse or any other horse can protect an unarmed person from a felon with a gun. Maybe if these punks knew that they had even chance of getting shot themselves they wouldn't be so quick to wave a gun around!

Imzadi, You need to be the one who get's real.
Creating more and more laws for gun control does absolutely NOTHING to ensure the safety of you and your family.
Let's see if you can wrap your head around this... I as a law abiding citizen want to get a conceal and carry permit, but can't. Joe the neighbor hood crack dealer wants to conceal a gun and does... why because he doesn't follow the laws to begin with. So you can put on the book as amany gun control laws as you wish The criminals will continue to break the laws... that's why they're called CRIMINALS! These laws only hurt the law abiding people. Do you think Joe the crack dealer will try to rob someone knowing that this person or someone nearby maybe armed with a .45? It's been proven in states that have a more relaxed carry permit that robbers are less likely to rob someone who they don't know to be carrying.

Not saying let's turn this into the wild west and no I don't own a gun nor do I wish to get one, but would rather equal the odds of good people with them to the bad ones who already possess them. Might make them think.

Imzadi (nice name, I read the book)- Jim is talking about allowing the victim to be armed, not the kid. Get a grip, and get off YOUR high horse.

Matt perhaps you should re-read the amendment before misquoting it and skewering it to your own twisted outcome.

IT states:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed"

No where does it say we're to take up arms against the government. It basically says
1. The States should have a military.
2. Even with said military, the people have the right to their own guns.

Final thought for you to think about with all these laws being passed in the name of security and safety.

"The man who trades freedom for security does not deserve nor will he ever receive either."
-Benjamin Franklin
