WEST WARWICK, R.I. -- Police said a tenant at a West Warwick home stabbed a would-be robber several times Thursday afternoon, then ended up being arrested on drug and felony assault charges himself.

According to the police, Owen Gray, 21, was stabbed multiple times by Joseph Carruolo, 19, as Gray and Kendrick K. King, 23, tried to rob Carruolo's house armed with knives.

King fled the house with Carruolo in pursuit.

The police later found marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and an undisclosed amount of cash in Carruolo's apartment.

Gray, of Fair Street in Warwick, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was arraigned. He's been charged with first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony crime, and assault with a deadly weapon.

He is being held without bail pending a re-arraignment in District Court Monday.

King, of Old Carriage Road in West Warwick, was ordered held without bail following an arraignment in District Court on charges of first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony crime, and assault with a deadly weapon.

A status hearing has been scheduled for June 11.

Carruolo was treated at Kent Hospital for minor wounds, the police said. He was ordered held without bail on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and assault with a deadly weapon pending a status hearing on June 11.

It would be nice if the fully story would be reported by this author. You neglected to mention Joey was stabbed multiple times. He was stabbed in his hand, in the head (he has staples), his ear was cut, and he was stabbed in his leg. I thought journalists were supposed to be impartial...
