SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. --The University of Rhode Island has appointed Professor Nancy Fey-Yensan as interim dean of the high-profile College of the Environment and Life Sciences, effective July 1.

Fey-Yensan will replace Dean Jeffrey R. Seemann, who stepped down after eight years to become vice president of research at Texas A&M.

Fey-Yensan is currently associate dean at the College of Human Sciences and Services.
In an e-mail to faculty and staff, Provost Don DeHayes called Fey-Yensan "an experienced academic leader and administrator with a full appreciation of the academic, teaching and research programs of CELS and a strong understanding of land-grant commitment and programs."

Fey-Yensan earned a bachelor's, master's and a doctorate in nutritional sciences at the University of Connecticut, joining the URI faculty at the College of the Environment and Life Sciences in 1996. She received that college's teaching excellence award in 1999 and served as its assistant director of land-grant programs.
