PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The state Senate adjourned shortly before 10 p.m. Friday after an eight-hour session that included passage of the over-$7.76-billion budget for next year, a number of smaller committee meetings and a break for dinner.

Senate spokeswoman Gregory Pare said that the Senate will re-convene next week, but that the day had not yet been determined.

House spokesman Larry Berman said that the adjournment of the upper chamber would not affect the House, which was still in session but in recess while the House Finance Committee met briefly at 11:20 p.m.

The House had pending before it a slate of more than 160 bills, of which it had deliberated on less than half.

Where is E-Verify?? RI has a 12.1% unemployment rate, and the Senate just lets this bill sit and rot?? The illegals are so protected in this state. Paiva-Weed did it again!!

E-Verify was introduced in February, and went to committee in May. And Weed wants us to believe that there was no time to vote on it??? This is the third year in a row she killed this thing. She should take care of the people as well as she protects her precious illegals.
