PROVIDENCE, RI -- The House of Representatives has canceled Wednesday afternoon's floor session to give the House Finance Committee time to focus on the budget, which will be unveiled today at 1 p.m.

"We don't know how late the Finance Committee will be held up," House Spokesman Larry Berman said by way of explanation.

All items scheduled to be heard on the House floor today have been moved to tomorrow's calendar.

The Senate will hold its floor session Wednesday, as scheduled.

Providence Journal staff will report on the unveiling of the House's proposed budget throughout the day, via the 7to7 newsblog.
