PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- House lawmakers overwhelming approved the nomination of Supreme Court Justice Paul A. Suttell to be the court's next chief justice. The vote late Tuesday afternoon was 73 to 0. Next stop was the Senate Judiciary Committee, whose members voted their approval 13 to 0 just after 6 p.m. A vote before the full Senate is set for Thursday.
