By Paul Kenyon BARRINGTON -- Midway through the first round of the 11th CVS Caremark Charity Classic, Nick Price and David Toms were worried about finishing last. By the time the tournament ended, they were on the other end of the standings -- as champions. Price and Toms pulled away from the field with an 11-under 60 Tuesday at Rhode Island Country Club to win by three strokes. They compiled a 36-hole total of 16-under 126. The victory is worth $150,000 to each in the $1.5-million event. It is the third championship for Price, a member of golf's Hall of Fame. He also won in 2001 with Mark Calcavecchia and 2006 with Tim Clark. After nine holes in the first round, Toms and Price were last, with a 1-over 37. But they pulled into contention when Price made six birdies on the back nine for a 29 and 66, one off the lead. Toms took over as the leader in the second round. He birdied 2, 3 and 4 to give his team the lead. By the end of the day, Toms had eight birds as he and Price added birdies at 11, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17. Matt Kuchar and Laura Diaz, one of six mixed teams in the 10-team event, took second at 129. They closed with a 60, with all 11 birdies by Kuchar.
