PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A man out on probation for robberies is suspected in a crime spree in more than a dozen communities in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Idris Adebimpe, 27, of 118 Comstock Ave., is charged with three hold-ups and one attempted hold-up at gas stations and convenience stores in Providence this spring. East Providence police have also charged Adebimpe with a hold-up at a gas station on the Wampanoag Trail in May. He was arrested Saturday and arraigned in 6th District Court, Providence, on Monday. He is being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions. Police believe Adebimpe is the "camouflage robber," known for wearing a camouflage jacket during the robberies. Adebimpe is also being investigated for a dozen other robberies in Cranston, Warwick, Pawtucket, Portsmouth, Johnston, South Kingstown, Lincoln, and North Providence, as well as Attleboro, Seekonk, and Swansea, Mass. |
