Lifeguard Shane Sullivan, of Middletown, grabs his sweatshirt as he leaves his perch Friday at Second Beach in Middletown. Sullivan says he was planning to put it on to help ward off the rain and chill. Even though summer arrives this Monday at 1:45 a.m., the weather has been damp and dismal. On top of that, the National Weather Service has just issued a flood alert, starting Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon.
