PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- North Kingstown Town Beach has been closed to swimming because of bacteria counts, but three other beaches have been reopened, based on recommendations from the state Department of Health.

Goddard State Park beach in Warwick remains closed.

Bristol Town Beach in Bristol, Fort Adams State Park in Newport and Gorton Pond Beach in Warwick have been reopened to swimmers. Water samples indicated that bacteria levels are within acceptable limits.

The Health Department will continue to monitor water quality, which can change daily. The department posts updated swimming advisories on its Web site. To listen to a recorded update, call (401) 222-2751.
