NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A 19-year-old New York woman was arrested Friday on a charge of receiving stolen goods after police found her driving a car allegedly stolen in New York. The police said they stopped Yasainey D. Sallah, of Jamaica Queens, N.Y., after noticing that a brake light on the car she was driving on Woonasquatucket Avenue was not working. On further checking, they found that the car was reported stolen in New York on June 3. Sallah told them she had been renting the car from a man in Queens, and though she had recently missed a payment she was unaware the vehicle had been reported stolen. She was arraigned before Bail Commissioner Bernard Lemos, who released her on $1,000 bail. |
