FOXBORO, Mass. -- State troopers from the six New England states as well as New York will join with two members of the New England Patriots at Patriot Plaza on Tuesday to launch a "summer safety blitz" promoting safety on the highways.

Patriots Pro Bowl kicker Stephen Gostkowski and Hall of Famer André Tippett will on hand for the event, which will feature a state trooper reading to young people at 10:30 a.m., a news conference at 11:15 a.m. and an open house in which visitors can explore state police helicopters, cruisers and motorcycles as well as a mobile alcohol breath-testing vehicle from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event is co-sponsored by AAA and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
