SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The police are looking for a man who held up the Elks Lodge at 326 Farnum Pike Tuesday morning, escaping with an undetermined amount of cash. According to the police, the victim told them that that a man wearing blue jeans, gray sweatshirt and white sneakers walked into the establishment under the pretense of asking about renting the facility. The victim said that once the man was inside he was assaulted and robbed. Deputy Chief Richard St. Sauveur said there were indications that a weapon was used but declined to say what kind of weapon it was. He also declined to release the identity of the victim. The suspect was described as white, about 35 to 40 years old, 6 feet tall, with dirty blonde hair, and facial hair. St. Sauveur asked that anyone with information about the robbery to call the Smithfield police at (401) 231-2500. |
