PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- This just in: The sun is out, there's blue sky overhead and photographer returning to the Providence Journal newsroom at 75 Fountain St. exclaimed that she had actually seen her shadow.

Meteorologists at the National Weather Service office in Taunton, Mass., were working on a forecast package deadline and declined to explain the phenomenon.

A hazardous weather advisory warns that slow-moving thunderstorms are possible across western Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire Thursday afternoon and evening and could result in locally heavy rainfall.

In Rhode Island, a cold front is expected to bring a round of showers Friday afternoon and evening with potential for a few severe thunderstorms.

Don't believe the sun was spotted Thursday? Here's proof, in this projo.com video.
