PROVIDENCE, RI -- Gas prices in Rhode Island have now increased for the seventh straight week after jumping six cents over the past week, according to AAA Southern New England.

The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $2.499 at the self-service pump, according to AAA's weekly survey.

The price has increased 83 cents since the start of the year, but this week's average price is still $1.52 per gallon less than it was at this time in 2008.

AAA's survey also found an average price of $2.619 for midgrade gasoline, $2.729 for premium and $2.479 for diesel fuel at the self-serve pump

AAA's survey found a 24-cent price range for self-serve regular unleaded, from a low of $2.339 to a high of $2.639, so AAA advises drivers to shop for the best price.

Gas prices will continue to rise because of Obama's stimulus plan. It's basic economics.

Overspending-->Print more money-->Basic commodities like oil become more expensive

Get used to it.

Don't you know that rules of economics don't apply anymore now that Obama is here. Hope and change will fix our deficit, medicare, and unemployment. Get with the program.

Ha ha ha re: blaming Pres. Obama for the rising gas prices! What was your reasoning, Huh! and Doug, when gas hit $4.20/gallon a year ago?

Jack said:

Yes who was president one year ago? Who started the AIG and bank bailouts... wasn't it the CONSERVATIVE Republican "the fundamentals of the economy are strong" guys?!
