Iway: 'Traffic was only slowed, never fully stopped'

Left my driveway in Somerset this morning at 8:35 a.m. for the 17-mile commute to work. Pulled into the Journal parking lot at 9:07. Elapsed time 32 minutes, 5 to 8 minutes longer than usual.

Center lane worked best for me. Right-hand lane of 195 West was clogged with merging traffic from on-ramps. Commuters headed south on 95 made it through even faster than I did, because high-speed lane of 195 West was not clogged by merging traffic from on ramps.

Backup started just after the RI/Mass. line but traffic was only slowed, never fully stopped.
