Twitter: projo | RSS | Email alerts The state Department of Health has noticed an increase in flu-like illnesses in three schools in Rhode Island, and has taken samples from students to see if they have swine flu. The department does not recommend closing the schools unless so many people are out sick that the schools can't function. None is seeing that level of absenteeism now, and the illnesses have been mild, said spokeswoman Carol Hall-Walker. Test results will be available next week. Hall-Walker would not identify the three schools, but said they are in different towns and not near each other. At least two of them are elementary schools. |
