EAST GREENWICH, R.I. -- An administrator in the Warwick school system and the superintendent in Scituate, Mass., are the two finalists for the superintendent's position in East Greenwich, the chairwoman of the School Committee announced Sunday night. Jean Ann Guliano said Victor D. Mercurio, director of secondary education in Warwick, and Mark Mason, the Scituate superintendent, will visit the district this week or next. The School Committee has already visited Warwick to look at Mercurio's work; they plan a trip to Scituate this week, she said. "We're hoping the week after next to make the decision," Guliano said. Fourteen people applied to succeed Supt. Charles Meyers, who is leaving to become superintendent/principal in the tiny Fishers Island, N.Y., school district. The School Committee narrowed the field to three finalists, but one withdrew before the final interview. |
