CRANSTON, R.I. -- A 17-year-old was stabbed in the arm late Wednesday night during a fight at a Reservoir Avenue McDonald's and the man identified as his assailant turned himself in to Coventry Police a short time later, Cranston Police said Thursday. Officers who arrived first at 1099 Reservoir Ave. found the injured juvenile standing with a friend in the parking lot, holding a shirt around his bleeding left arm. He was taken to the emergency room at Rhode Island Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, the police said. Witnesses told the police that Anthony Williams, 20, of Cranston, who had an "ongoing feud" with the victim, drove south on Reservoir in a red Nissan Altima, Cranston Police Capt. Marco Palombo said. Palombo said the disturbance apparently began when two cars full of young people pulled up to the car in which Williams and his girlfriend were eating. The victim got out of his car and approached Williams. Williams was arraigned in District Court, Warwick, Thursday on a felony assault charge, Palombo said. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim. Unable to post bail of $500 cash or property worth $5,000, he was sent to the Adult Correctional Institutions, Palombo said. So far, sounds like self-defense. Why are the police arresting him? They should be congratulating him on surviving a probable violent attack on himself.
