FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) -- The owners of a day care center in Fall River have been charged with child endangerment after a 17-month old girl repeatedly bit two children under their care, leaving a 2-year-old with an eyelid torn in half. WPRI-TV reports that the child was taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence, R.I., for emergency surgery Friday. Doctors said she would have permanent disfigurement to the eye lid and her eye lashes would probably not grow back. The Archangels Home Daycare is now shut down after authorities accused the husband and wife running it of doing little to protect children under their care. Mervat Heinen and Ashraf William face three counts, including permitting substantial injury to a child. They are out on $1,000 bail. |
