WASHINGTON -- Sen. Jack Reed will be among the lawmakers invited to the White House Wednesday, as President Obama signs into law a mortgage foreclosure prevention bill that contains a provision, written by the Rhode Island Democrat, to help homeless people get lodging. The House on Tuesday overwhelmingly passed the final version of the mortgage bill, which more than triples the size of the reserves in the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and allied funds, to $100 billion, and makes it easier for homeowners to seek new mortgage terms so that they can stave off foreclosure. The Reed provision provides $2.2 billion for grants that will help the homeless through such means as providing shelters. The signing ceremony will take place Wednesday afternoon in the East Room of the White House. CommentsLeave a commentPlease be civil. "Holy Filibuster Batman, Senator Reed will be at a White House signing today."
"Quiet down Boy Blunder, Patrick Kennedy's got his own blog, now that's real news. And our Congressional delegation is so undistinguished, and lacking in accomplishments, we've got to make them seem important."
