BOSTON -- A Warren, R.I., man who came to the aid of a stranger last summer was honored at the State House on Friday with the Massachusetts State Police Lifesaving Award. The state police said that Clifford C. Harvey, a manager at the FedEx Office Ship Center on Bolyston Street in Boston, was driving on Route 37 in Braintree on Aug. 13, 2008 when he saw a car crash and stopped to help. Harvey, who is certified in CPR, called the Massachusetts State Police and swiftly began to administer CPR to the injured driver. Trooper Sean P. LeBlanc responded and joined Harvey in performing CPR on the driver, the state police said. Together, the two men were able to revive the driver by the time an ambulance arrived. The driver was taken to Boston Medical Center, where the emergency room told the state police that the "people at the crash scene did some very good work." The driver, who was not identified, was discharged from the hospital five days later. Col. Mark F. Delaney, superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, announced the award for Harvey, who is also a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Rhode Island National Guard. |
