The police say 44-year-old Michael Ostrowski of Warren was speeding and led police on a chase from New Gloucester to just south of the Falmouth exit, near Portland, where his pickup truck ran over spike mats placed by the police. The police say Ostrowski refused to leave the truck and threatened several times to shoot himself or anyone else who came near it. They say the weapons he allegedly claimed to have turned out to be a BB gun and a cigarette lighter that looked like a pistol. Police say Ostrowski surrendered at around 11:30 p.m. and was taken to the Cumberland County Jail. -- Associated Press |
